Town Day Trolley Tours
One of the Town Day traditions is the partnership of Winchester Savings Bank and Winchester Historical Society in offering trolley tours of Winchester. This tradition dates back to the beginning of Town Day in the 1970s, during the celebrations of the Bicentennial.
Each year, the Bank rents the trolleys, and Historical Society members give the tours. This year’s tours included a tour of Main Street from Mystic Valley Parkway to Symmes Corner, led by John Clemson; Solar Homes of Winchester, led by Susan McPhee; Artists and Architects of Winchester, led by Maureen Meister, Houses of the Stars, led by Ellen Knight, and Trees of Winchester, led by Peter Wild.
The tours are always a special part of the day’s events and popular with residents and visitors as a way to get to know the town and its history. The Society welcomes ideas for new tours and of course, volunteers to lead tours in the future.
