Town Day 2026! What a fun day!

Town Day 2026!
Town Day is a significant event for the Historical Society as it’s the one day of the year that people come out and celebrate Winchester.
Kudos to the Town Day Committee for organizing this event every year and ensuring that our trolley tours along with everything else is free and open to the public.
We had a great day yesterday between our Main St booth and our trolley rides.
Many thanks to Winchester News for sponsoring our trolleys again this year! This year we had 10 tours – 4 for adults and 6 children’s.
Thank you to all the riders who joined us. As usual, we were sad to have to turn folks away as our rides filled to capacity. Thank you for your interest and great questions.
Thank you to Ellen Knight, Susan Keats, and Vincent Dixon for leading our four adult tours. Thank you to Joe Govoni and Chloe Silberman (Congratulations, Chloe, on your WHS graduation!) for joining me in leading our six children’s tours. For years, we have used the children’s tour script from Nancy Schrock and yesterday a former board member complimented that she learned some new facts from the tour!
Big thanks to Historical Society program committee, Board members, and volunteers who planned, coordinated, sold tickets, moved cones and sandwich boards, staffed our booth, directed traffic, and everything in between – Laurie Minniti, Electra Govoni, Susan Keats, John Minniti, Bill Swanton, Keith Doo, Albert Moussa, and Joe Govoni.
Special thanks to Laurie Minniti who has been the mastermind behind our trolley program for years. Already she is thinking about our tours for next year!
Electra Govoni, our Board President, was busy all day at our Main St booth with a steady stream of folks asking questions, buying maps and books, and just simply stopping to say hello.
We fielded lots of questions and interest in the Carriage House project. Here’s more info: https://saveourcarriagehouse.org.
Shout out to all the wonderful Town Day committee volunteers who all the logistics for this event – our spaces, tent, tables, cones, signs, and overall support.
