Winchester: Then and Now

The George Pratt Pluming and J. McGrath Boot and Shoe Repair
buildings on Mt. Vernon (Pleasant) St. just east of Main Street
and the Boston-Main Railroad. This photo was taken sometime
between 1879, when the Stanton Block was built, and 1890 When
the White Block was built.

Same view of the White and Stanton Blocks, 2001. Carriages have
given way to automobiles and the White Block, built in 1890, has
replaced the plumbing and shoe repair businesses. The railroad,
at the end of the street now a rotary, was elevated in 1952.
