SUMMARY:Martin Luther King and the Struggles for Black Voting: A Case Study for Expanding Democracy
DESCRIPTION:Last spring\, the League of Women Voters of Winchester’s Steering Committee nominated two outstanding teachers from Winchester High School to attend a case method workshop taught by Harvard Business School Professor David Moss.  \n\nThe Case Method Institute for Education and Democracy at Harvard is an initiative formed to bring the case method of teaching to high schools to deepen their understanding of American history and democracy. It provides students with a unique opportunity to expand their civic education.\n\nWe are delighted that Chris Kurhajetz and Anne Marie Edenhofner\, WHS US Social Studies teachers\, participated in the CMI workshop\, which included teaching a series of cases in their classes and working with the Winchester League to offer this community event: a case study discussion on the Voting Rights Act of 1965 including its relevance to voting legislation that is currently before Congress.\n\nRegistration for this Zoom event is required.  Please email hottopic@lwvwinchester.org to register for this event.\n\nIn the meantime\, mark your calendars because this program will not be recorded due to the use of copyrighted materials!\n\n
